Zara Heading (She/her)

Zara Heading (she/her) is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).  She holds a Master of Clinical Psychology, a Graduate Certificate in Domestic and Family Violence Responses, and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours I). She has experience working across private practice and public healthcare settings, particularly within acute care.

Zara works with older adolescents (15+) and adults, providing individual therapy for a wide range of emotional, psychological, and relational concerns. She offers support and intervention for clients experiencing depression and mood disorders, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, complex trauma, personality complexities, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, interpersonal and relationship challenges, identity and self-esteem difficulties, family issues and domestic violence and disordered eating behaviours.

Zara’s therapeutic approach is relational and attachment based. She tailors evidence-based interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. Her practice draws from modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, while also incorporating elements of Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Zara’s therapeutic style is characterised by curiosity and warmth. She works collaboratively with clients, their supports and broader healthcare team to create a safe therapeutic space for people to feel, seen, heard, valued and understood as their authentic selves. She is committed to providing inclusive and culturally responsive care that is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and gender-affirming. She has particular experience supporting those impacted by domestic and family violence.

She is currently accepting referrals for individual therapy with adolescents aged 15+ and adults. She has availability on Tuesday, Wednesday afternoons, and Saturdays. Use our contact us page to make your enquiry and book in with Zara.
